Valerie Dobiesz, MD, MPH is Director of Internal Programs for STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and core faculty at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative where she co-leads a program on education in conflict. 

According to World Health Organization (WHO) data from 2013, one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or abused in some other way , and more often than not, this abuse comes at the hands of someone she knows.  Dr. Dobiesz is a social justice and women’s rights advocate and she tackles both of these topics in her FIX 18 talk on the global problem of gender based violence.
