Dr. Mitzman is an assistant professor of emergency medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH), both in Columbus, Ohio. She speaks nationally about a wide range of pediatric emergencies for the general emergency physician including ingestions, recognition of at risk children, and pain control. She is actively involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education and serves as the Lead Pediatric Educator for OSU and the co-director of resident education at NCH. She also leads pediatric simulations and does curriculum development and educational research focused primarily on how to teach pediatric emergency medicine to emergency medicine residents. More recently, she has become known for her work with Second Victim Syndrome speaking about this topic from both a personal narrative perspective as well as the latest scientific information about this topic.
