Dr. Simmons studied medicine at University of Michigan and did her training in Emergency Medicine at University of Michigan/St. Joseph Mercy Hospital residency where she currently practices. Her research and administrative interests are patient/clinician communication, clinician engagement, fellowship training of PA and NP clinicians and effective learning strategies within organizations. Dr. Simmons leads a peer coaching program to enhance clinician bedside skills and combat burnout. She participates in the Engagement, Communication and Clinical Leadership Committees with Envision Physician Services, chairs the multidisciplinary Patient Experience committee and serves as Vice President of Patient Experience and Employee Engagement.
