Congratulations to Dr. Cassandra Bradby on earning the 2018 AWAEM “Hidden Gem” Award. This award honors four female faculty members with outstanding contributions through clinical work, teaching, mentorship, role modeling, or administration, having great impact locally or regionally. This award is designed to recognize those whose significant but quiet contributions may escape recognition.

Dr. Cassandra Bradby attended The College of William and Mary where she received a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She then earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College and completed her residency training at the State University of New York – Downstate Medical Center. She is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

“Her impact on our program has been profound. After just over a year in our department, Dr. Bradby had joined the residency team as an Assistant Program Director, and after just one year on the job, was promoted to Associate Program Director. She has admirably served as an educator, mentor and role model not only to our 36 residents, but to countless medical students in her roles with the medical school’s Curriculum Committee and as co-director of two pre-clinical courses. She served as the Vice Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and sits on two other school committees that promote diversity and women at our institution. In addition, she continues to mentor medical students from other institutions on the side.”
