Congratulations to Dr. Chantal Uwamahoro for receiving the first ever FIX19 International Attendee Scholarship. This award was created to support women from low and middle income countries to attend FIX19. Dr. Uwamahoro was selected from over 70 applicants and is the first female emergency medicine physician in her home country of Rwanda. A special thank you to EM:RAP GO for supporting this awesome woman and scholarship. 

Dr. Chantal Uwamahoro is a Junior Consultant in Accident & Emergency Department/ University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) and Clinical Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali, University of Rwanda since 2018. She completed her medical training at Hope Africa University (Burundi) and specialized (master) training in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at the University of Rwanda. Chantal is a founding member of the Rwandan Emergency Care Association (RECA) and worked with the organization to host the first RECA Conference in 2016 and the African Conference on Emergency Medicine (AFCEM) in November 2018. She also participates in the Emergency Medicine in the Tropics course offered annually by the Rwanda Emergency Care Association (RECA) for foreign doctors and medical trainees to learn about the practice of emergency care in Rwanda. In addition, she has been involved in research in medical emergency and has been invited to talk and present abstracts in different international conferences. These roles and responsibilities have continued to sharpen her knowledge and skills. Her interest is research and educational development.
