Congratulations to Dr. Michelle Romeo, winner of FemInEM’s “Equity in Medicine” Essentials of EM Fellowship Blog Competition.

Michelle was granted this award and role on the basis of her submission detailing the inherent gender bias in medical education evaluations wherein women are continually seen as inferior to male counterparts solely due to sex, and will be at the Essentials of EM conference in May 2019 to work with medical education leaders in the EM community along with other driven fellows.

Michelle is a second year resident at NYU/Bellevue’s Emergency Medicine program in New York City. She is a native New Yorker but took a hiatus in Baltimore for 10 years for her undergraduate degrees and medical school training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is an active member in her residency’s wellness curriculum, serves as RoshReview’s international program liaison and contributes to CoreEM, a medical education blog dedicated to FOAM from NYU/Bellevue. Congratulations again, Dr. Romeo!
