Congrats to Dr. Rachel Zang on receiving the Benjamin Josephson Fund Award! This award supports medical providers who commit to delivering medical services to those in need throughout the world. Dr. Zang received this award to support her work in Zanzibar with PURE (Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Resource-Limited Environments).

Rachel grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Boston College where she received a degree in English. She then attended Loyola of Chicago Medical School where she participated in the global health track.

Rachel has worked in both Rwanda and Zanzibar to teach point of care ultrasound to improve medical management in resource limited environments.  She is the co-creator and current president of the Penn Resident Wellness Committee and passionate about physician well-being.  She is a self-proclaimed foodie and in her free time enjoys traveling to new places and yoga.
