We are honoring the Female Speakers at the ACEP16 New Speakers forum, especially section winners Annahieta Kalantari, DO and Kate Kellogg, MD. Rising speaker 2016 is Joan Noelker,MD!
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) New Speakers Forum was created to invite new speakers to present at a national conference. Unlike traditional national conference speaking opportunities, appearance at the New Speakers Forum is exclusively “First Come First Served” providing an opportunity to understand the motivations for speakers to volunteer to speak. Since the only criteria for selection at the New Speakers Forum is timely self-submission, this forum provides an opportunity to understand the motivation of new speakers to place them on a national speaking stage.
The New Speakers Forum at ACEP always consists of 28 speakers. The slate for 2016 includes 19 women. This is marked difference in gender distribution of speakers over the past 9 years. We look forward to all the speakers submitting themselves to the Speakers Bureau. Lets keep the momentum going #FemInEMs
Greetings,
I’m working with a faculty diversity group at ACEP to increase diversity among presenters at the New Speaker’s Forum. It is tremendous news that 19 of the speakers were women last year and I’m wondering if there was any special recruitment or advertising to drive these impressive numbers.
Would appreciate any help / suggestions we could get to recruit a more diverse panel of applicants.
Best,
