The Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University is seeking qualified emergency physicians for geographically full-time academic positions. Applicants must be eligible for or have certification in Emergency Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or the College of Family Physicians Canada (CFPC) and be eligible for or have licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Successful applicants will demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition, they will demonstrate evidence of their ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment. Formal education and experience in medical education/education scholarship, administrative leadership, or research will be considered an asset, as will advanced clinical training in point of care ultrasound. Academic rank and protected academic time will be commensurate to the candidate’s experience and expected scholarly contributions.
The Department has two clinical sites, with an annual ED volume approaching 120,000 patient visits. The clinical department provides tertiary emergency care services for the Southeastern Ontario referral region, and serves as the only Level 1 trauma centre for the Southeast Local Health Integration Network. The department supports world-class RCPSC and CFPC accredited Emergency Medicine training programs and fellowship programs in Resuscitation and Reanimation and Global Emergency Medicine. Support for research and scholarship is a priority, and the Department has a strong national academic profile with diverse areas of research focus including injury/trauma, toxicology, cardiac arrest and resuscitation, global health, and syndromic surveillance. In addition, the department has a large education research group with expertise in simulation, competency-based medical education, and assessment. Faculty enjoy extensive administrative, statistical and methodologic support.
