Bio
Dr. Costigan is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School. She received her medical degree from Boston University and then completed her residency at UMass where she was chief resident. She currently functions as Assistant Director of Clinical Operations for both the UMass University Campus as well as a smaller community site, Marlborough Hospital. She has experience in quality and process improvement, ED operations and flow, and leadership development.
Dr. Costigan is particularly interested in the topic of workplace violence in the emergency department. In addition to the internal work she does on a hospital workplace violence committee, she has personally published on this topic as well as interviewed for national media organizations. She has been invited for several grand rounds lectures and is passionate about advocating against workplace violence in healthcare.
