Bio

Dr. Carolyn Sachs, MD, MPH, completed her residency in emergency medicine at UCLA/Olive View-UCLA Medical Centers in 1994. She subsequently went on to complete a research fellowship in public health epidemiology in 1996.

Her research & didactic energies are focused toward improving treatment of victimized patients in her role as a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

For the past 16 years, Dr. Sachs has volunteered her time as Medical Director of Forensic Nurse Specialists, an organization which performs all sexual assault exams for victims in Long Beach, Orange County, Pomona & most of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. She has also written numerous research articles and book chapters on the topic of sexual assault injuries and examinations.

She also serves as the Emergency Department’s Quality Improvement Chairperson.
