Sara Gould is currently an assistant professor in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery and the Department of Emergency Medicine at University of Alabama at Birmingham. She serves as the ambulatory clinical director of orthopedics at the Highlands clinical site. She is also the co-director of the Concussion Task Force at Children's of Alabama. She also hold a clinical faculty appointment at New York University School of Medicine in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Gould completed her residency in emergency medicine at New York University/Bellevue Hospital. During this time, she provided medical coverage for a variety of sports events such as Yankees and Rangers games. She then went on to complete a fellowship in non-operative sports medicine at North Shore University Hospital System.
As part of her fellowship, Dr. Gould was active in sports sidelines coverage, from high school football teams to the NBA All-Star games. She has served as a medical director for a number of NBA events since that time. Dr. Gould is the team physician for the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Women's basketball team. Dr. Gould is also registered in musculoskeletal sonography (RMSK), credentialed by The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) to perform musculoskeletal sonography.
