Bio

Shira Schlesinger completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at LAC-USC, and her EMS & Disaster Fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. She served as the first full-time Medical Director for the Paramedic Training Institute of the L.A. County EMS Agency, and currently holds the positions of Director of EMS & Disaster Preparedness Programs at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and Medical Director for Newport Beach Fire Department.

Dr. Schlesinger regularly speaks on EMS & Disaster topics for both prehospital and hospital audiences, including active shooter and MCI response, trauma care, Community Paramedicine, and EMS pediatric care. She is a member of the California EMS for Children Technical Advisory Committee, and serves as the EMS Section Editor for the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine. In her sparse free time she is the mother to three very medically-savvy children under the age of eight, and the partner-in-crime to one very hard-working father-spouse-screenwriter.
