Bio

At the Brigham and Women's Hospital I serve as the Director of Internal programs and the International Fellowship at STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation. I am also core faculty at Harvard Humanitarian Initiative leading the Education in Crisis Program. My research is focused on improving maternal health in emergency and conflict settings. My nonclinical departmental activities involve leading the faculty advising and promoting the advancement of women faculty. I am co Director and co-creator of a national course called Special Deliveries to improve the clinical skills and knowledge of emergency medicine providers for vaginal deliveries.I am also the senior editor on a new Manual of Emergency Medicine Obstetrics that is currently in publication with Wolters Kluwer. I am the principle inventor of a prototype obstetrical medical device designed to autotransfuse women suffering life threatening postpartum hemorrhage in low resource settings in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
