Valerie Dobiesz, MD, MPH is Director of Internal Programs for STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and core faculty at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative where she co-leads a program on education in conflict.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

According to World Health Organization (WHO)\u00a0data from 2013<\/a>, one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or abused in some other way , and more often than not, this abuse comes at the hands of someone she knows.\u00a0 Dr. Dobiesz is a social justice and women’s rights advocate and she tackles both of these topics in her FIX 18 talk on the global problem of gender based violence.<\/span><\/p>\n
