I belong to a now semi-famous physician mothers group on a social media site.\u00a0 Overall, it has served as a definite source of support and empowerment to me and others, as well as a veritable spring of information on various topics, ranging from breastfeeding to latest treatment of aging skin.\u00a0 Occasionally, it has also served as a sounding board for various complaints and has created the perfect medium for us to vent (or twitch with a capital B).<\/p>\n

One of the most common themes for these twitch sessions tends to center around not getting appropriate respect.\u00a0 More often than not, this comes from a failure of others to recognize that we are, in fact, actual physicians, and address us as such.<\/p>\n

This grievance is ubiquitous, and painfully familiar to all of us.\u00a0 It can present in many ways:<\/p>\n
