She obtained her B.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan, M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and trained in emergency medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center\/Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY.  Her MPH and fellowship in health policy were completed at George Washington University.
