As former Chief Resident at University of Vermont Medical Center, Ash is thrilled to stay on as an inaugural Global Health and Health Equity Fellow at UVMMC with a special interest in gender affirming care. She has extensive research experience and is a co-investigator on several projects, and a Larner College of Medicine Frymorer Scholar leading a project titled “Building an Interdisciplinary Gender Affirming Care Model in the Emergency Department.”  Additionally, she serves as a co-investigator on the “New American Indigenous Migrant Health Initiative.”  She is the author of several manuscripts and book chapters ranging from topics including the management of Friedreich Ataxia, the approach towards altered mental status in elderly patients, and has presented her research both regionally and nationally at the Health Equity Summit, SAEM New England Regional Meeting, Stowe EM, and Consortium of Universities for Global Health. As a chief resident, she led the “Kudos and Quick Hits” series where she highlighted the clinical success of the residents during didactics each month.  She is very active in recruitment, growth, and development of the UVM Emergency Medicine Residency. As a future fellow, Ash is excited to continue to build and sustain local and international community partnerships, obtain her MPH, create and collaborate on community-centered initiatives that improve population health with a focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups, and carve out opportunities to work with the next generation of medical providers through the Larner College of Medicine’s Director of Social Medicine and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
