Melanie Prusakowski, MD has worked in pediatric emergency medicine since moving to Roanoke, VA in 2008 to open the region's only pediatric emergency department (now level 1 pediatric trauma center). Her training included molecular biology at Princeton University, medical training at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Pediatrics residency and chief residency at Bristol-Myers Squibb RWJ in New Jersey, and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She serves as Associate Dean for Admissions at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. Melanie's passions are children, injury prevention, and resident and medical student education. She lectures on a variety of pediatric acute illness and injury-related topics.
