In my clinical practice, I strive to empower patients to make lifestyle changes that promote healing and wellness, rather than relying solely on symptomatic treatments. My expertise in evidence-based, integrative practice, equipping me with tools to support patients in a personalized way. I focus on preventive strategies that address lifestyle, nutrition, and stress, I aim to help patients achieve lasting health. For the past 23 years, I have been a dedicated expert physician in acute care and trauma care. I have served underserved populations, a commitment that began with my medical training in Newark, NJ. I completed my medical school and internal medicine internship there, where I first encountered the pressing health disparities affecting vulnerable communities. My emergency medicine residency in the Bron, NY deepened my understanding of the unique challenges these patients face, and I continued this work with two years of service in Brooklyn, NY. For the past 14 years, I returned to Newark, working to provide compassionate, accessible care to those most in need. My strong genetic predisposition to metabolic syndrome, and the heartbreaking losses of family members to its complications, have profoundly shaped my approach to medicine. Witnessing these challenges firsthand has fueled my commitment to a preventive, integrative approach that addresses the root causes of chronic illness. As an emergency physician with 23 years of experience, I have encountered countless patients whose conditions could have been managed or prevented with a holistic framework. This realization, combined with my background in functional and lifestyle medicine, has led me to pursue this integrative medicine fellowship. My practice blends integrative and conventional medicine. I am passionate about addressing barriers to optimal health by bringing an integrative medicine approach to the greater public. As an American physician of Puerto Rican and Indian descent I understand the importance of culturally sensitive care and the impact of representation in healthcare. Serving urban, suburban, and rural populations, I have seen how integrative practices can improve health outcomes in communities with limited access to preventive resources. I hope to provide all patients with the knowledge and tools to prevent conditions like metabolic syndrome, breaking cycles of chronic illness and improving quality of life. I believe in a future where wellness and prevention are central to patient care, and where individuals from all backgrounds have the support they need to thrive. My expertise and training bring these life-changing benefits to my patients and community. Through my work, I honor my family’s legacy and empower others to live healthier lives.
