Congratulations to Cristiana Baloescu, MD MPH for receiving the AWAEM Junior Faculty Development Forum Scholarship!  This scholarship is intended to support a junior female faculty member who shows promise for significant career achievements in emergency medicine through research, education, service, advocacy, or administration in academic emergency medicine and/or who has worked to promote the role of women in academic emergency medicine.

Dr. Baloescu is an Emergency Physician and point-of-care ultrasound faculty at Yale School of Medicine. She graduated from Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, the Emergency Medicine Residency at Yale New-Haven Hospital and the Advanced Professional MPH at Yale School of Public Health. Her goal is to advance the field of point-of-care ultrasound globally, with particular focus on extending ultrasound use among novices and ultrasound use in injury and trauma care. Her current research interests include applications of machine learning to point-of-care ultrasound, eFAST implementation in trauma care in low-resource settings, and ultrasound guided regional anesthesia. She is also committed to ultrasound education via app creation, such as Bulldog Sonobites.
