Congratulations to Dr. Alisa Hayes on earning the 2018 AWAEM “Hidden Gem” AwardThis award is given to four female faculty members with outstanding contributions through clinical work, teaching, mentorship, role modeling, or administration, having great impact locally or regionally. This award is designed to recognize those whose significant but quiet contributions may escape recognition.

Dr. Alisa Hayes is an Associated Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of Missouri. She received a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from the University of Arizona, and then her Medical Degree from the University of Missouri. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine.

“Dr. Hayes is an exceptional faculty member and role model that has been able to successfully advance Emergency Medicine at the University of Missouri despite significant challenge.  Her efforts have been integral to the successful development of an Emergency Medicine department and residency, and her contributions to the School of Medicine have been valuable in guiding and selecting medical students at our institution. She was the first female to be promoted to Associate Professor in the department. Much of her most recent work reflects her passion for resident and medical student education, as well as educational research. Additionally, she has an established record of service, primarily through committee work, advising, volunteering and teaching.”
