Bio

Dr. Priyadarshini Marathe is an Emergency Physician with special interest in Point of Care Ultrasound, Medical Education, Simulation, Diversity and Gender equity in healthcare. Promote and practice well being at workplace.

Dr. Priyadarshini Marathe completed her medical graduation in Karnataka, India and her foundation years in medicine were in primary care centers in villages along the western ghats in India, government hospitals as well as large corporate urban healthcare organisations. She chose to specialize in Emergency Medicine when India recognized it as a separate specialty in 2009. Priya completed her residency in emergency medicine in Bangalore and Hyderabad, working at Apollo Hospitals. After securing her Membership of the college of emergency medicine in 2012, she was accepted for post graduate work at Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, U.K. since 2016 and has been working as consultant in emergency medicine at Oxford. She is department lead for Ultrasound, Simulation, CESR pathway and creating local standards for invasive procedures.

Priya also teaches ultrasound to the medical students of Oxford University and is working towards integrating ultrasound into the medical curriculum in her role as Hon. Senior Clinical Lecturer at Oxford University, U.K.

Priya has been an active member of Society for Emergency Medicine, India since September 2011 contributing to its academics, conferences and committees. She lead the creation of the Gender Specific Issues committee of SEMI and has been working with a team to create awareness of gender bias and inequality in conference speakers.

Priya is also and active member of IFEM Special Interest Groups on Gender Equity and Equality in Emergency Medicine, New & Advanced Technology and Geriatric EM. She is lead creator of a full day certification workshop called "Gender Equity and Equality in Emergency Medicine for Smart Emergency Departments" which has been attended by over 100 delegates so far.

Priya reads voraciously and loves to climb mountains. Priya believes in 'making things better', continuous learning and shining a light on others around her. She loves Indian food, its music, dance, history and culture.
