Bio

Dr. Teresa Amato earned her BSN from Columbia University in 1991 and her MSN from Columbia University in 1993. Dr. Amato attended medical school at SUNY Downstate where she received her MD in 2003. Dr. Amato completed her EM Residency at NYP Columbia/Cornell from 2003-2007. She served as Chief Resident at NYP Columbia/Cornell from 2005-2007. Dr. Amato then completed a Geriatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at NYP/Cornell in 2008. She served as the Attending Physician at Cornell from 2008-2010. She was the Assistant Program Director at Northshore University Hospital from 2010-2014, the Associate Program Director at Long Island Jewish Medical Center from 2014-2015, and then served as Associate Chair at Long Island Jewish Medical Center since 2015 until she rose to her current position of Chair at Northwell, LIJ - Forest Hills. Dr. Amato is married and has six children.
