Rebecca Parker, MD, FACEP finished her term as President of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in October 2017 and is current Immediate Past President of ACEP. Dr. Parker is a practicing attending emergency physician at Centegra Health System in McHenry, Woodstock and Huntley Illinois and West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park Illinois. She serves as senior vice president of advocacy and leadership for Envision Physician Services. Dr. Parker is also president of Team Parker LLC, a consulting group, and serves as clinical assistant professor at the Texas Tech El Paso department of emergency medicine. Dr. Parker has served in numerous ACEP leadership positions over her 20 years of membership including Chair of the ACEP Board of Directors, chair of the ACEP’s formidable Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee, and chair of the Section of Young Physicians. She has also been a leader in the Illinois and Texas College of Emergency Physicians. A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Parker brings many years of management experience in urban, suburban, government and academic practice, including spending two years as core faculty, quality director and ED Medical Director at Texas Tech. This experience has given Dr. Parker a deep understanding of the challenges in both private and academic settings. Dr. Parker has received awards for her leadership roles, most recently the Bill B. Smiley Meritorious Service Award from the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians for significant contribution to emergency medicine in Illinois, their highest honor. She also received the prestigious AMA Foundation Leadership Award and the AMA’s Women’s Physician Congress Mentor Award.
