Congratulations to Dr. Alecia Gende for receiving the 2016 EMRA ACEP Leadership & Advocacy Conference Travel Scholarship!  ACEP’s annual Leadership and Advocacy Conference gives participants the opportunity to hone their leadership skills, stay current on legislative and regulatory issues, and meet with members of Congress to discuss the issues impacting emergency medicine.  Dr. Gende looks forward to representing Iowa ACEP and advocating for her patients and profession in Washington, DC.

Dr. Gende attended medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine after a career in nursing and serving in the US Navy.  She is a current second year emergency medicine resident at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  She spends her free time volunteering as the race director of the Run for Sam 10K hosted by the VFW post in her hometown, doing CrossFit, and working with ALiEM’s Wellness Think Tank.  After completing her emergency medicine residency, Dr. Gende plans to pursue a fellowship in Sports Medicine and is interested in fostering wellness and resiliency in emergency medicine.  She was previously recognized as an Honorable Mentionee for the 2016 Right Fit HIPster Awards!

Congratulations Dr. Gende!
