Congratulations to Dr. Saadia Akhtar for winning the NYACEP Advancing Emergency Care Award!

Dr. Saadia Akhtar is the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed a five year, combined residency in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Akhtar is nationally recognized for her work with several organizations and activities. She is the President for the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors (CORD), the national organization for Emergency Medicine Program Directors. Dr. Akhtar also is an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. – See more at:

Advancing Emergency Care

This award recognizes a New York ACEP member for a significant contribution in advancing emergency care in New York State. Contributions to be considered include: Patient Care, EMS, Education, Research or major contribution to a New York ACEP priority objective.  The award was first presented in 2008.

Dr. Akhtar received the award for her dedication to the advancement of resident education.
