Dr. T​ricia Smith is a senior resident in emergency medicine at the University of Connecticut. She was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica and underwent medical training at the University of the West Indies. She came to residency after completing her MPH at Harvard University and working for a year in human rights. She is co-resident fellow of the Annals of Emergency Medicine. In 2016, with the help of an Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine award, she started the Academic Women Engage project to inspire the next generation of women EM physicians to invest their time in academia through writing, publishing and presenting. Her professional interests include ultrasound in low-resource settings, the development of emergency medicine worldwide, scientific writing and publishing, and women in leadership.
