A comment published in the September Dallas Medical Journal around gender pay gap has caused a viral storm, mostly targeted at the commentor. In this emergency pod, Dara, Esther and Jane reframe that conversation and talk about salary inequity in medicine, the reason why beliefs are not the same and educated perspectives and what to do next time a comment like this goes viral.

Thank you so much for addressing this issue so promptly. I watched the firestorm erupt on Twitter over the last day and was left feeling much more upset by the responses to the offensive comment than I was by the comment. The comment was ignorant and sexist. We know there are ignorant and sexist people out there. Scrutinizing and ridiculing their social media presence and attempting to ruin their life with bad online reviews is not helpful. It does not fix the problem.
